MY HOME & GARDEN

Gardening is addictive. I’ve asked Mordo to make another one of these beds along the fence for next year!
P.S. Do you like how the tomatoes are tied to the fence?
herringbone patterned patio plans are stirring!
I came home from Japan to an overflowing vegetable garden. There were tons of cucumbers (Mordo had not noticed their existence while I was gone); the mesclun mix were in full bloom; the arugula bushes were and continue to be out of control (and therefore? spicy); and I have far too many cherry tomatoes growing too close to one another. My peppers are growing, but there’s no sign of peppering. There are carrots somewhere, and who knows how they are doing. I had transplanted a small pot of strawberries to the raised bed, where they seem to be happier. I ate this strawberry above; it was super tart but very flavorful. I have no idea whether I should be growing green beans at this point, but I might plant those from seed, as well as some radishes when it gets cooler.
Generally, I am having success with the raised bed (not so much with container herbs, at least the ones grown from seed), and maybe a little too much. But now I know what to anticipate for next year, which I’m excited about!
(Also, what’s up with this photo layout? What happened to the slideshow?)
